Born into the lush forests of Northern Thailand, Sriphai Homberg’s story is as extraordinary as her calling. A proud member of the Iu-Mien Highlander community, Sriphai was literally born in the forest—a fitting origin for someone whose name, “Sriphai,” means “Great Forest.” Her upbringing was steeped in the natural rhythms of life, learning from her mother, a midwife and forest gardener, how to harvest food from the jungle and transform it into nourishing meals. These early experiences planted the seeds for her passion for Thai cuisine and her deeper understanding of how food brings healing and community
Sriphai’s spiritual journey was equally transformative. Raised in a household rooted in animistic and shamanistic traditions, she was also exposed to Buddhism in school. Yet, it was the small Christian church in her village that captivated her heart. Guided by a Thai missionary couple, Sriphai sought to uncover the truth about faith. When a family crisis threatened to tear her parents apart, Sriphai prayed to God Almighty, seeking divine intervention. Her prayers were answered, bringing peace to her family, and she dedicated her life to Jesus Christ.
After moving to Bangkok, Sriphai pursued higher education, earning degrees in mass communication and later in law, becoming a certified lawyer. Yet, her calling was far greater than any legal career could offer. In 2012, alongside her husband, she co founded the Avoda Foundation, a Thai Christian Mission Organization committed to empowering impoverished and marginalized communities.
Today, as CEO of Avoda Foundation, Sriphai leads initiatives that are changing lives, including a current focus on aiding Christian Burmese refugees fleeing the brutal civil war in Myanmar. Recognizing the immense challenges, Sriphai invites Christians worldwide to join her mission through prayer and support.
To share her story and inspire others, Sriphai is launching a YouTube channel: "Sriphai Thai Kitchen - Mission in Thailand." Combining her deep love for Thai cuisine with her heart for missions, the channel offers engaging cooking tutorials infused with stories from the mission field. Viewers will not only master authentic Thai recipes but also learn how they can make a meaningful impact in Thai Christian missions.
For Sriphai, food is a divine art—an expression of God’s love that brings people together and provides healing. Her vision is to build a global community of believers, united in faith and action to support those in need.
